Isabelle Rousseau clarinet
Born in Quebec city, Isabelle was introduced
to music at the age of eight. Her passion led her up to a
bachelor’s degree in musical education from Laval University
in 2003. All along those years, she studied the clarinet with Marcel
Rousseau (Ste-Foy College) and then, with Alain Trottier (Laval
University). Isabelle was also interested in orchestra conducting. So,
in 2002, she decided to attend Gilles
Auger’s class at the Quebec conservatory of music. She also
received precious training from René Joly (Ensemble Vents et
Percussions de Québec and Orchestre d’harmonie of
the department of music of Laval University).
Very active musically in her hometown, Isabelle has been teaching the
clarinet in many schools among which the Petit Séminaire of
Québec, the Cascade Music school of Beauport and the music
school of the Ste-Anne-de-la-Pocatière college.
She has had a real passion for harmony orchestra since the moment she
started her clarinet studies. She was a member of the Harmonie des
Cascades of Beauport from 1998 to 2002 (bass clarinet and clarinet).
She participated in many concerts, took part in the recordings of five
albums and, in July 1999, went on a European tour (France, Germany,
Austria, Slovakia, Switzerland). In September 1999, she joined the
Orchestre d’harmonie Vibrensons of Beauport as first
clarinettist and shortly after became the musical director in the
interim (autumn 2007).
A trifluvian citizen by adoption since 2005, Isabelle has joined the
« Grand Orchestre de la
Mauricie » which allowed her to perform in various
shows with renowned artists like Nanette Workman. Since September 2007,
she has been a member of the clarinet ensemble of
Trois-Rivières. Aside from that, she has been a teacher in
the « Musique-Études »
program at the Académie Les Estacades since the same year.
